OUR STORY

Our History

Currans Pub is steeped in a long line of family and Dingle history.

While we know the building dates back to 1871 the Curran family acquired the premises in the first decade of the 20th century.

The business was first run by James Curran until circa 1930. It was then taken on by John Curran the eldest son. John was known to be an excellent business man who also ran a very successful coal distribution service from the yard. With the untimely passing of John it was then taken on by Joe Curran the youngest son of John. Joe had different ideas for the business using the yard for all sorts of farming supplies and with his keen interest in farming ran a very successful farm along side the business all this with the help of James' wife who took charge of the pub or the shop as it used to be known.

Joe continued to run the farm and the shop up until his passing in 2000. Joe's wife Mary then took charge of the shop with the help of their youngest son James Curran.

James still continues to run the pub along side the farm and was the first in the family to open the pub past 6pm when he did so in June 2002.

Since that day James has been running a very successful pub and has a host of colourful, delightful and faithful customers who have brought it forward to what it is today.
